Monkey Trouble
04/03/2008 - By Beate Spear That monkey sure looks cute on TV but what can I expect when I get him home?
Having monkeys as pets can be awfully funny, if we can watch others having to handle the situations on the screen. Latest since Buddy where Rene Russo plays an eccentric socialite who raises a gorilla as her son our hearts melted away for this species. Buddy is a fact based...... story about an English socialite and her husband who live in a mansion with a brood of animals including chimpanzees who are raised as her children. When she discovers an ailing baby gorilla, she decides to care for it as well. Years later, the gorilla is fully grown and its strength is sometimes out of control. However, the gorilla shows love for his mistress and obeys her commands. That all changes when she is invited to display the gorilla and chimps at the Chicago World's Fair. Accidentally freed by one of the chimps, the gorilla terrorizes the Fair. From that point on, he becomes moody and more uncontrollable until he attacks his mistress in a bestial rage.
My 10 year old daughter and I just love those kind of movies and we keep watching them over and over again. One of our other favorites is Monkey Trouble, where talented Thora Birch played a young girl's whoms life turns hairy when her new pet monkey turns out to be a trained pickpocket on the run from a scheming gypsy. Eva is a girl that is feeling left out and ignored when her new baby brother arrives. Nothing is going well for her, until she finds a new friend. Her new friend is Dodger, a monkey. Dodger and Eva become close friends and entertain crowds at the Boardwalk. That is, until Eva finds out that Dodger has a hidden talent - he's a trained thief. This cute little capuchin monkey is truly the star in the movie but one should not think that this kind of animals are as easy to train and to keep as house pets. For more information about this special species and about the difficulties to raise them in unnatural habitants
