Kicking & sreaming: a day with the trainer sponsored by kentucky horse council
06/09/2008 - By Kentucky Horse Council Lexington, KY, June 9, 2008 – In September the University of Kentucky kicks off a new annual horse 4-H program “Kicking and Screaming: A Day with the Trainer” with support from the Kentucky Horse Council (KHC). The program was awarded a $1,000 KHC
The inaugural event features Richie Wingfield, a John & Josh Lyons certified trainer, for a one day clinic. The morning activities address the importance of ground work and the translation to riding and other areas of horsemanship. Select senior 4-H students will participate with their horses in an afternoon session at the September 20th clinic.
Because Richie Wingfield rides stock seat, hunt seat, and has experience with gaited horses he is an ideal trainer for this event. “We feel he will be able to address any kind of horses the 4-H’ers may bring,” commented Dr. Fernanda Camargo in a letter to KHC.
“‘Kicking and Screaming’ is going to be a long-term success for the Kentucky 4-H program and we are thrilled to be a part of that vision,” state Madelyn Millard, KHC Board President.
“Kicking and Screaming: A Day with the Trainer” will be held at the L.D. Brown Agricultural Exposition Center at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. For more information about the event contact Dr. Fernanda Camargo at the University of Kentucky (859) 257-7525.
