Kentucky horse council offers class on engaging and utilizing volunteers
06/25/2008 - By Kentucky Horse Council Lexington, KY, June 25, 2008 – The Kentucky Horse Council presents “Engaging Volunteers by Tapping into their Strengths and Interests” as part of its on-going Professional Horseman’s Series.
The series is designed to provide networking, support and continued education for equine leaders in Kentucky.
The workshop style class is offered on July 15, 2008 at 1500 Bull Lea Rd, Lexington, Kentucky.
Taught by Dr. Lori Garkovich of the University of Kentucky, the course focuses on identifying the motivations and constraints of volunteers to best utilize their strengths and interests. Participants will have the opportunity to examine tools which measure knowledge and skills required for specific events. Additionally they will learn about an asset inventory which allows event organizers to maximize volunteer performance.
“The role of the volunteer is vital to many non-profit organizations. It just makes sense to provide training to the equine community on how best to capitalize on the strengths of a volunteer workforce,” remarked Madelyn Millard, KHC Board President.
All equine associations with paid memberships in the Kentucky Horse Council may send one participant to this class at no charge; all other individuals will be charged a tuition fee of $15.00, which includes all materials and instruction. The general public is welcome.
